The NMAA Foundation has increased its annual scholarship awards from $22,000 in 2019-2020, to $45,000+ for 2020-2021. The Foundation’s Board of Directors made this decision due to the challenges brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic during this unique school year. A minimum of twenty (20) additional $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to New Mexico students in an effort to support even more kids during these difficult times. With the already established annual scholarships and these additional “Together We Rise Scholarships”, the NMAA Foundation will distribute a minimum of $1,000 to over 40 graduating seniors to attend the college or university of their choice.
Seniors are of course not the only students that have been deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this, the NMAA Foundation would like to continue its "Together We Rise" scholarship program for future years as well. In order to do so, the organization must expand its fundraising goals and initiatives moving forward.
With that, we are asking for your help! Individual donations have already played a big part in funding this year's Together We Rise Scholarships, and we hope this trend continues as we launch this statewide fundraiser. The NMAA Foundation has distributed nearly 250 scholarships to students at over 90 high schools across New Mexico since 2007. A breakdown of scholarship recipients by region is listed below:
